Hila Klein, co-founder of the H3 Podcast and the Teddy Fresh clothing brand, has filed for divorce from her husband and creative partner Ethan Klein. The filing, made on Monday, November 2, comes less than two weeks after she publicly accused him of infidelity.
What We Know
According to court documents first obtained by TMZ and also reviewed by Complex, Hila filed on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. The paperwork lists the couple’s wedding date as October 10, 2012, and their date of separation as October 13, 2026.
In the filing, Hila asks for joint custody of the couple’s three sons and requests spousal support. She is also asking that Ethan pay her attorney’s fees and that her maiden name, Hacmon, be restored. Complex reports that she is represented by Laura Wasser, one of Hollywood’s best-known divorce attorneys.
Ethan has not publicly responded to the divorce filing itself.
Background
The couple’s split became public on Friday, October 23, when Hila posted a statement on Instagram announcing their separation. “My husband has been having an affair,” she wrote. According to her account, Ethan was “caught in a lie,” and his explanation shifted from “just a kiss” to “emotional cheating” before he admitted to a relationship that she said had lasted months. She added that she did not know the full story. “The person I loved and trusted for 20 years evaporated overnight,” she wrote.
These claims come from Hila’s statement, and the alleged affair has not been addressed in detail by Ethan. In a brief response quoted by Complex, he asked the public to “respect my family’s privacy” and said he was “working with Hila to urgently remove my ownership and financial stakes” in the businesses they share.
The Kleins became YouTube stars in the early 2010s with the h3h3Productions channel, known for its comedic reaction videos. That channel grew into the H3 Podcast, one of the longest-running and most-watched video podcasts on YouTube, while Hila built the Teddy Fresh apparel line. One day before Hila’s statement, the podcast announced it was going on an indefinite hiatus. Several members of its crew have since voiced public support for Hila, and some said they would not keep working on the show under its current arrangement with Ethan.
The Kleins are not the first YouTube power couple whose private life has played out in front of millions of followers. Family vlogging stars Catherine Paiz and Austin McBroom also built a large online audience around their relationship.
Reactions
The separation has drawn wide attention among the couple’s online audience, especially after the podcast’s sudden pause. Supportive posts from members of the H3 crew, as reported by Parade, have drawn particular attention, since the show’s staff had long been a visible part of its on-air identity.
What’s Next
The case will now move through the courts, where questions of custody, support and the division of the couple’s shared businesses will need to be settled. The future of the H3 Podcast remains unclear while it is on hiatus, and neither Hila nor Ethan has said whether it will return in any form.
The filing lands during a busy stretch for celebrity splits: just days ago, Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff also filed for divorce.
